SciFi and Fantasy Art: Ethel

Being the kind of person who's never really satisfied with their artwork, I've returned to Ethel and this time done a inked 'portrait' — I'm much happier with this drawing, even if it is rather simple, as I think the spookiness is more evident in this piece... The handle of her broadsword is wonky, I know, but I only noticed this after I'd started inking it...

I quite like this depiction of Ethel, but then, I thought the first one was pretty great, too (You're so hard on yourself, dear!) I don't think her sword is so off as that, at least, it's not that readily noticeable. And now you have me reading up on Eihwaz, though at first glance, it makes sense, and quite suits her character, no? Patience, caution, etc... Though I think I could understand more of her if you finished that excellent story (ahem!) Excellent work, dearest! Now, let's see more...!!!

:-) Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "I notice you didn't comment on the pencil version, though... (Sniffs) But thanks for your support/praise — appreciated as always! And the Eihwaz talisman... I had something a little more... esoteric... in mind, but that's all I'm going to say on the matter... Still, I'm chuffed that a throw-away detail has prompted you to do some research — makes me feel all... inspirational! And the sledgehammer-subtle hint regarding Wolfsbane has not gone unnoticed — it'll be finished when I'm happy with it, and not before, so indeed, patience is the watchword..."

This is much more atmospheric indeed. Is her face painted or is it like really like that? Noone would have noticed the sword if you hadn't pointed it out.

:-) Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Black ink... love that stuff, and it's most definitely my favoured medium... But yeah, her face is painted, though I'm keeping mum on why that is (though the words "stark" and "raving" might have some relevance)... And I'm beginning to regret mentioning the sword thing..."

Yay, I like it.
It's pretty cute kind of spookyness 2

:-) Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Heh, I can dig on the "cute" thing, but that wasn't really my intention..."
