SciFi and Fantasy Art: Killer in a Big CoatNot a hugely inspiring title, but there you have it... This is a killer in a big coat! | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 24 Jun 2003 | Aisja Lisa Wiersma | hey it's bjork! Bjork rules. And Akira. Impressive killer in a big coat. Reliable Ashmak tm. Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "You should never leave home without your Ashmak..." | |
| 6 Aug 2003 | Nathan A. Lyon | This is f*****g awesome! I like dirty work. Have you considered subnitting to 200AD or that sorta thing? Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Cheers, fella! I once got a drawing printed in 2000AD, back in 1991, but it was well ropey... As for submitting seriously... Jinkies, I'm not that good!" | |
| 10 Aug 2003 | Nathan A. Lyon | In all honesty your drawings are that great, but in the end it all comes down to sequential art and story telling. I have no idea how you are at that, something I'm currently working on myself. But if you can tell a good story I'd damn well buy it. Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "You really think I'm that good? Blimey! [blushes and tries to look modest...] Er, yeah, sequential storytelling — I've had a stab at it, but only as a laugh (and not nearly so well drawn...), though most people who've seen it seem to like the result... I did this assassin strip, called Antidote TV, but the language is so obscene there's no way Elfwood would permit it... Mail me, though, if you want to see it..." | |

| 18 Nov 2003 | Eileen Megan Steinhauer | Very awesome! Nice composition and great tones! You've got wonderful talent! Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Thank you very much! Modesty forbids me to agree, of course, but I appreciate the comment greatly (especially from someone with a huge talent like yours!) It's funny you like the composition, as I've always felt it's a bit off, but then, an artist always sees the faults, never the triumphs, que no?" | |
| 8 Feb 2004 | Ryan Bourret | Very cool. I like the sketchy look. Reminds me of a game on the PSone called "Loaded". Your style is very reminescent of Simon Bisley. Very nice Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Not familiar with this "Loaded" game, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out... The Bisley influence is, I guess, a by-product of my obsession with the comic 2000AD, and the effect of Biz's ABC Warriors on the teenage mind can clearly be seen in my work... Well, this stuff, at least... Thanks for commenting, matey!" | |
| 12 Mar 2004 | Steven .A. Wright | this is such an inspiring piece of work. I absolutely fell in love with it, it just oozes style. Great stuff. PLEASE keep up the good work and give us uninspred artists the inspiration that we need!! p.s. agree with the above coment about the loaded game!! Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Thanks — it means a lot to me that my work can provide inspiration, but I'm feeling pretty uninspired myself at the mo... Maybe I should have another stab at the whole comic thing?" | |
| 13 Mar 2004 | Michael John Morris | Lovely comic styling. It looks so dark and intimidating. Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Dark and intimidating? Blimey, I did a far better job on this piece than I realised!" | |
| 8 Apr 2004 | Magnus Björkbom | it got me thinking Fallout(what, so you happened to mention it as an inspiration). Partially by the look of the soldier and partially by the cartoonish posters, the latter reminding me of the unfortunate instruction guy of Fallout. Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "Heh, poor old PipBoy... The sequence where his eyes get seared off because he hasn't put on his protective goggles still makes me chuckle! (Sick? Who, me?) As it goes, this drawing was done back in 1995, before Fallout, but the similarities you've picked up on should go some to explain why I like the game so much..." | |
| 9 May 2006 | Gabrielle | Judge Dredd! Austin 'Ozz' Dibble replies: "i like to put little details like that in there... " | |
